Hi, I was wondering if any one could help.

I am going to New York at the beginning of November. Will the shops have started decorating for Christmas.

Since department stores have been doing this earlier and earlier, there probably will be decorations inside the stores. However, I don't beileve tha the holiday windows will be ready at that time.

Christmas starts the day after Halloween as far as the stores are concerned and some, but probably not all will have their decorations at least started. However, the Rockefeller Center christmas tree is not lit until the begining of December - although other around town decorations will undoubtedly be done way before thanksgiving.

You need to book EVERYTHING early especially if you change your plans to be in NY for Thanksgiving week which is the most magical time to be in NYC...

Other times of the year are great too!

Beginning of November? Perhaps some decorations will be found inside the major department stores, but the windows are "unveiled" closer to Thanksgiving. Early Nov is a few weeks early to really get the "Christmas feel" of our great city -- but it's a fantastic time to be in NYC nonetheless.

Its always been a dream of mine to be in NY during the Christmas period and when its snowing!. So I guess if I am a bit early this time I will just have to come back again.... and again.... and again!!!.
