emd, I was following your DH's passport dilemma and it made me think of a few of my own. I'm SO glad he got his worked out. Hurray!

But, it made me ponder...I have a US and EU passport. I have to turn in my EU passport for renewal soon and that is fine because I can still travel on my US. However, WHAT IF when I have to turn in my US to renew and have an emergency travel situation to the US? I can't enter the US on my EU passport at that time, if such a time comes up. I used to be able to go in with my birth certificate, but that will be null and void soon, so....hmmmmm.

Any thoughts?

As for emd's question....I have lived on a very tiny island in the West Indies for 13 years. There is pretty much nowhere in the world that I would't go...as long as it's not an out and out war zone. I'm pretty much game for anything as long as I'm not in imenent danger.

Question #1: I feel absolutely pampered when I'm sitting in my outdoor jacuzzi all by my lonesome. Just me and the birds.

Question #2: Tuesday leaving for London/Cambridge/Portugal/Cambridge with my DH.

Question #3: I have no desire to any place that takes more than 8 hours in a plane.

Oh, and on Question #3, I do not want to go to Bangkok. As much as everyone on the Asia board raves about it, it sounds too hot and crowded and too much sensory overload for me.

Question #2, for pampering, I did the most wonderful trip to Cabo San Lucas in early June w/a close friend. We rented a small villa right on the beach and had a cook come in to cook breakfasts and dinners each of the 4 days, and had house calls from a very good local spa for massages, pedi/manis, facials, and another massage. And btween those we read, swam in the private pool, had drinks on the rooftop palapa bar while watching sunset, walked on the beach, birdwatched from the verandas, and never left the place.

Question #1: I am going nowhere this weekend, but am going to NYC w/my daughter for 4 days (lots of theater)and then to Ocean City MD right after that for a week of vacation at end of August.

seetheworld & mms -- now I don't feel so badly, I've got a bottle of Arrowhead spring water next to me. I'm hoping DH will bring me a glass of wine when he gets home from his golfing. [-o< Since I'm still on crutches and wearing a huge leg brace, I am really pathetic in the helping myself to beverages department. My lurching gait tends to spill anything I can carry in my pockets.

Hmm... Pampering... I really wish I could always have a spotless house and not need to clean it myself. I also love massages. Pretty boring aspirations.

I have never had a desire to visit Viet Nam, although I know people who have been there and loved it; and I really don't want to go back to Barbados. Other than that, I've pretty much enjoyed every place I've been and want to visit just about everywhere. I hope to visit all 7 continents in my lifetime.

Statia, my DH and I celebrate our anniversary this weekend, too. 38 years, but I think it feels longer to him right now, since he's been my caretaker for the past month or so. Bless his heart. He's being so patient.

Cheers to all...

Poison--Pinot Grigio

1. I don't live in a fancy home, yet somehow I feel very pampered here. My little dog helps.

2. Going to Portland, OR in 3 weeks, then to Hawaii in late Sept. It's my first trip to HI since 1985 and DH's first trip to HI ever. Aloha, y'all!!

3. There are very few places in this world I would rule out ever visiting. But I will never visit one of those countries where women must wear veils and are treated like second class citizens.

Ice water to drink. Too hot for alcohol. For pampering I'd go up to Calistoga and do the whole spa, mud bath thing...the woiks!!! Not traveling this weekend, but soon. I think India. I know, like other places, people that have been love it, but even though it is fascinating in many ways, there are just a lot of things in the culture that just leave me cold. Having said that, I'm up for just about anything and anywhere as long as its not someplace totally stupid..Darfor or Somolia anyone?

I was gonna comment on that too, smalti. I think I could more easily forget to breath than forget to eat!

Q3 : Anywhere in the Middle East. I know folks have gone and have loved it. But with my fortune I'd probably be kidnapped or bombed...
