What's with the igloo at LAX??
I have just returned from a lovely trip to CA. I always got a kick out of seeing the "Jetson's House" at LAX. (Yes, I've been to the restaurant in there) Anyhoo, when we flew into LAX a few days ago, the Jetson's House had white blocks on it and it looked like an unfinished igloo. Someone please tell me this is temporary and they will not permanently igloo-fy the Jetson's house!!

A chunk on the outside of the building fell down. It's now closed for repairs. Don't know if they have plans to reopen anytime soon, I'm sure there are concerns about earthquake retrofitting, since a chunk just fell off for no apparent reason.

According to the famous LAX landmark's site:
www.encounterlax.com
The Encounter Restaurant is temporarily closed for repairs. Until further notice, we are not accepting reservations. We look forward to your patronage upon reopening. If you need additional information, please call 310-215-5151
Tried their food once or twice - not impressed, but an interesting place to kill couple of hours. Decor uniqueness and good drinks.

We went to Encounters last year while having a long layover at LAX. I agree, the food wasn't great and it was overpriced. But it was still kinda fun to go in there, and it helped pass the time.
