What's up with this???

I started a new thread out of curiousity about anyone seeing the new movie "The Day After Tomorrow" and after a few minutes the Fodor's police yanked it.... God, I didn't even get political.

What, is the administration watching???

Shoot! And I wanted, so bad, to start one about "Shrek II" on opening day but didn't............... because this is a TRAVEL forum, somebody always SHOUTS!!! (FYI, Shrekkie is still wonderful and hilarious!)

Seriously, can't believe Fodors would yank THAT, Rosemary1???????????

Yeah, I was surprised too, I realize it isn't about travel (necessarily) but we all occasionally get off-topic from time to time.

BTW, Bonnie, I can't wait to see Shrek 2, probably do that this weekend too.

Enjoy, and Happy Memorial Day to all!

I doubt it wasn't REALLY about travel (I didn't see it), but strange that they still leave other non-travel related threads like:
Songs that remind you of the beach
Socks with Sandals
Tacky Tourist Sitings
Name our new Puppy
Name our Baby

I am one who is GLAD they eliminate these "chatty" threads that are only loosely, if at all, related to travel. There are plenty of message boards and chat rooms available for "Chat". And Movie forums too. I hope this thread is deleted as well.

Try to relax, rb_traveler, about these fringe posts! They're always going to be here.......... Some of us just can't resist coloring outside the lines!!!;-)

Yes, and please eliminate the "hen party" posts as well.

Well "bonniebroad" then why not go to the "Other Topics" and do your "coloring"? The posts do not comply with the purpose of the forum, "Travel Talk" .... so why not do a google lookup on something like "coffee klatch" and find lots of "coloring books" to dabble in.

Rosemary 1: Shrek 2 was delightful. I really enjoyed this movie and the animation is excellent. Rush right down to your local theatre, grab the popcorn and candy and enjoy!!! ***kim***

rb_traveler, I rarely post anything that doesn't have to do with travel. And the last time I checked, Fodors was in charge of this site.......... Sorry that you have to take everything so seriously...... and if you don't like a post, don't read it, don't waste your time with it. This is real life.......... none of us get it all OUR way!

Kimamom, wasn't "Shrek 2" a hoot? My 6 year old granddaughter was dancing and howling with laughter! Did you have a preference for #1 or #2? I love them both!

Bonnie, there is (or was) something on European board about attending a "hen party" in Spain, if I remember correctly.

Right you are. I concur with you 100%.

And you are as free to skip my opinions as I am to skip these threads.

And again, you are 100% correct that Fodors controls the board, not I. And with that in mind, the Rules ( http://www.fodors.com/forums/rules.html ) and FAQs ( http://www.fodors.com/forums/faqs.cfm ) support my position. I'm not going to quote them (all postings must be in the writers OWN words), but it's all there in black & white. And that will conclude my thoughts about THIS thread.

BTW, are you one of those travelers who think posted rules ("No Use of Pool after 10PM", etc.) aren't for you either?

Bonniebroad: definitely Shrek 2, there's no question. That donkey was just too funny with his lines. I want to see at again!

But first, Raising Helen with Kate Hudson! ***kim***

bonniebroad,

A "hen" party is what men refer to when speaking about a group of women together chatting and gossiping. When speaking about a group of men, women refer to it as "golf"!

I had a pretty good idea, Jayne, about that hen party post!;-) Just wanted one of the guys/unhappy ones to spell it out for me, in their own unique way.........

So, Jayne, will YOU be going to see Shrekkie??? Such a delight!

rb_travelerxATyahoo,

I get it! Your initials are RB, and you are "at Yahoo" and you are the anonymous traveler X. Wow! That's mysterious.

As for the "Socks and Sandals," thread, what could be more travel related? How many posts have I read on "What to wear to NYC?" "Blue Jeans Okay in Paris," "Can teens bear their tummies in Milan?"

We have learned, from that thread, that you can wear socks and sandals with some assurance you won't be tarred and feathered in the three westernmost states (exept Hawaii, where it is forbidden. We didn't hear from Alaska).

Also, we have learned that spinning classes can be had anywhere, so no excuse for not exercising if you are traveling!

And, here's more travel, I paid $2.48 for low octane gas today in Seattle, a record! Lots of people may be going to Shrek 2, rather than driving this Memorial Day weekend. We plan to see it and I know even the teens will like it!

bonniebroad,

As a matter of fact, at the time of your post we were seeing Shrek 2!. The adults loved it; the film critics (our 11-year-old and his friend) didn't think it was as good as the first--are they ever?!

Jayne, I think that Eddie Murphy as Donkey is THE most brilliant casting! (Are we there yet? ;-) )
