What's the bests Sled Dog Ride/Tour Company?
Hi, we will be traveling Alaska this May. We will be in Juneau and then in Anchorage, Seward, Kanai, Denali.
-Where are we most likely to find Dog Sled Tours? Juneau area? Or Achorage/Denali area?
-What are the best Dog Sled Ride tour companies?
-What should we expect in terms of the length of the tour versus the price?
-What's a good price?

Are you looking at snow or dirt?? Snow of course is certainly over all "better". Expect at least $400 for these tours, Juneau has Coastal, ERA, TEMSCO.
The cart ride bargain is at the Wasilla Sled Dog museum for $5, going around in the woods for a 5 minute ride.
I think an excellent cart ride is done by Seavey's out of Seward. There is also Godwin's who does the snow tours.

Seaveys run dogs on the glacier outside of Seward. That is very popular and my B&B guests have enjoyed that very much. I've heard spoken of the dogs on the glacier outside of Juneau, too. In the Mat-Su Valley north of Anchorage, you can do the Wasilla Iditarod HQ ride for $5 as mentioned or get much more of an experience/tour from Iditarod musher Vern Halter. He got a new souped-up dog cart that'll take folks on a several- mile ride (through the woods on trails) after a great presentation and meeting the dogs (I get a kick out of the names his wife Susan comes up with like the fastener litter--Zipper, Velcro, Snap, etc) --see www.vernhalter.com . There's also the dog kennel in Denali National Park, and I think under some circumstances you can volunteer to walk a dog there and interact with them a lot. It depends a bit on what sort of experience/budget you're thinking of and where in your vacation around Alaska you'd like to do it. Have fun!
