What's closed in D.C.?

I'll be in Washington at the end of June. I'd like to visit the National Archives and the Capitol. Are they now open to the public?

To my knowledge, the Nat'l. Archives never closed. As for the Capitol, tours open to the public have resumed, but the procedures are different. Use a search engine to find the US Capitol's official web site--I've found it very useful in the past.

The Archives building on Pennsylvania Avenue is undergoing major renovation and is closed to the public for most purposes until Summer 2003.
For details, see http://www.archives.gov/facilities/dc/archives_1.html

Ford's Theater will be closed for renovations, too. The FBI tour, the Bureau of Printing and Engraving, and the White House all had restrictions or closings, too -- check their web sites if you're thinking of visiting them.

Joe,

I replied to another post but you may just access this one.....

In addition to the Archives being closed, the Newseum is, as well, as hubby and I found out when planning our recent trip. I don't know about the Capitol, though.

Good luck with your planning and enjoy D.C.

The only thing I see always closed in DC are the minds of the too far left looney liberals and the too far right crazed conservatives.
