What to wear when the weather is hot but its after Labor Day?

Just wondering for all who live in warmer climates, do you wear summer type clothes into October/November? We are going to Las Vegas the end of the month and was wondering if I can still wear white?

I live in a climate where it's over 100 sometimes in October! Yes, white is very acceptable when the weather is very warm into the fall months.

You could wear a nice fall colored blouse ( I like burgandy and olive green) with your white shorts or capris. I have capris in lots of colors (turquoise, burgandy, hot coral) and these colors all look nice with a white, lightweight blouse or cami top. Stay cool! ***kim***

Depends on how "hot" YOU look...if the temp is high nobody is going to quibble about, or notice, the color!

I would wear lightweight fabrics but in darker colors.

Yup, you can wear white. Here in TX we wear white after Labor Day. Heck, we are wearing shorts often into October!

(But if you are really concerned about it, you could always wear ivory...)

Katyhotr:

We have Summer through Halloween Night in the Greater Bay Area. Folks tend to not drag out the winter colors until November.

October is too hot for all that dark clothing...however, I did wear a tailored black linen Armani sleevless sun dress last night for cocktails, dinner and cocktails with girlfriends.

Today, navy blue, mu-mu from Mexico...

Laugh...go figure on the dark colors.

I grew up in SF which is temperate all year round and whose seasons are no where near as distinct as other parts of the country. I had no sense of "seasonality" with regard to clothing. People wear whatever whenever. I often wear "fall" clothes in the summer b/c it isn't that hot. And people won't give you a second glance if you wear white in October.

It was only when I went to college in New England and lived in NY did I learn that people had these rules - like no white after labor day.

Growing up in California, I was totally unaware that in other places in the country, certain colors are only worn during certain times of the year. We always just dress for the weather. If it's 90F in Feb, then we wear "summer clothes". If it's chilly and foggy on an evenning in July, then we wear our "winter clothes" - AKA - we put on long pants -

As a LV resident white is fine. But it seems to be cooling down early this year, you may need those fall clothes after all. Traditionally it can be in the low 80's in late Oct. but it also can be cool in the 60's and windy.

I wear the same wardrobe year around. Occaisionally in the winter I'll wear a cashmere sweater. For the most part, I don't own any wool.

Wear your summer clothes.

I agree with everyone who says color doesn't matter, especially in Las Vegas where anything goes. I might mention, though, that casinos can be REALLY cold, so regardless what color(s) you wear, you should probably take something long-sleeved in case you run into some over-active air conditioning!

Thanks for all the help. In PA we tend to put the white away after Labor Day but I'll keep it out until after our trip. I'll definitely take a sweater just in case!!!

It's 6pm in L.A. right now, and it's still 100 degrees. You bet I'm wearing white!

lol, I love what to wear threads especially when I can name the designer that I am wearing

Today it was in the high humid 80s in Florida..I feel weird wearing colorful summer things after Labor Day as well, especially since I still feel like I am half New Yorker.
But for shopping and eating out, I wore a black tee shirt with a tan linen skirt (oh yeah, DKNY) and a pair of black sandals ( Prada)
with a little black silk cardigan around my shoulders for high a/c in the stores and restaurant.
I would wear the same thing in LV..as a matter of fact, I do wear the same thing in LV
