What to wear in October in Nola?

We will be in N.O. the second week of Oct. Can I still wear my white jeans/shorts, sandals ect then, or do they observe that stupid labor day rule like they have up north, of no white after no matter what the weather?

I never heard of such a rule. Is that a "Neiman Marcus" rule?

Wear what you want and are comfortable with. During my recent 4 days in NO, the only time I looked/starred at what someone was wearing was when I saw the "singing cowboy" walking towards Bourbon Street with his guitar, cowboy boots, and in his BVD's. I was wondering why he left NYC.

White shorts or jeans after Labor Day? Maybe it's a stupid rule but you'll get plenty of funny looks if you do it. I say be comfortable but also be prepared to look like a "tourist, second class."

Wear whatever you are comfortable wearing. When you get there, you'll see so many other people who seemingly got dressed in the dark - that you'll look just fine by comparison.

You'll see people wearing all-white suits in NOLA. Sure, they're carrying instruments...

The weather is usually not cold in mid-October, but you will probably need a light jacket just in case. I have seen a rare instance of nearly freezing temperatures in N.O. in October. As for rules, cool it, honey. There ain't no rules about what to wear in New Orleans. That's why the call it the Big Easy. Good luck.

The color isn't going to matter a whit to anyone that matters. However, don't waste space packing shorts and sandles. It's going to be pleasant enough ( I hope. Mother Nature often fools everyone) that you would be comfortable in long pants and sneakers.
