What to pack for canyon trip in May?
We are flying into Las Vegas on April 28, picking up a car for our our 2 week vacation. We are making a large circle tour of...Zion, Page, Grand Canyon, Sedona then back to Las Vegas. We are not sure what clothes to pack other than jeans and shorts. A light jacket? What about warmer clothes? We do not want to pack a lot. We will eat at El Tovar and nicer places in Vegas, but we assume casual slacks will be acceptable. Any suggestions? Thank you!

I always pack a couple of convertible pants/shorts. I also like to pack a true hiking type shirt. Columbia and other brands, etc. I would pack a light jacket. Layering is always nice as you can shed them if you need to. Some places that you mention can be downright cold in the morning and hot in the afternoon. I am talking a 50 degree temp change. A low of 35 and high of 85 is certainly possible.

I always try to go with one carryon and a large purse, so I don't take lots of shoes etc. but do what Spirobulldog suggests. A couple of jeans, tee shirts, long and short sleeve, one or two black silk rib that looks a little nicer, a long sleeve light weight collar shirt, cashmere sweater, sandals, undies and a scarf if I want to dress up the silk tee. If we are going to do nicer then I'll put in some knit slacks. I always wear a light jacket and my sneakers or hiking shoes on the plane because they take up too much room in the bag. Even though el Tovar is a nice place to eat, you see folks in very casual clothing there.
Pick colors that will mix and match and do the layers.
