What to do in Morro Bay?

Hello! Anyone have any suggestions on hotels in and around Morro Bay? Any right on the water? Also, what all is around there?

It has been awhile since I stayed in Morro Bay, so I can't comment on hotels, but for activities I'll start a list:

Montana del Oro state park - ocean, beachcombing, picnicking, hiking.
Morro Bay waterfront - kayaking, boat trips, Morro Rock, waterfront restaurants, and some shopping.
Morro Bay downtown - small shops, some restaurants
Cambria - Moonstone Beach, art galleries, eclectic shopping
San Simeon - Hearst Castle, San Simeon State beach, elephant seals (a bit north)
San Luis Obispo - Cal Poly San Luis, the mission, interesting downtown

Quo: Sometimes you do confuse a person(?). Nepenthe is more than 2 hours from Morro Bay.

The Inn at Morro Bay is a very nice hotel located on the edge of the state park.
Activities can include golf, kayaking, fishing, walking along t he waterfront and enjoy fresh seafood. The nice little village of Cambria is about 30 minutes away with lots of shopping and more waterfront parks.
If you have time and car, Hearst Castle is well worth a visit.
Really like Dorans for breakfast. Sow's Ear is Cambria is great for dinner.

It's fun to kayak in their harbor, there are otters there you can get close to (you can drive to a lookout to see them too). San Luis Obispo is worth a stop, there's also a little museum in the Morro Bay State Park that is interesting (and the views from there are good).

Marlena: Are you still going to try to see Hearst Castle? If so, try to stay in Cambria. San Luis Obispo is nice, more options for overnight and dining.

Yes, the night before we are staying somewhere closer to the Hearst Castle, and then visiting the castle in the morning. My dad wanted to just continue on down the coastline and spend the next night somewhere on the coast, which is why I was wondering about Morro Bay. I also thought about Pismo Beach?? But I don't want to go too much farther since we then have to drive back towards San Jose the next day. I have no idea what there is to see and do along the way on 101. Any ideas?
