What to do in Los Angeles?

Hi, im 15 and in July im going with my mum, aunt and cousin (15) to San Diego for a wedding. We have spare days before and after the wedding, we might go to Los Angeles some days. Any recommendations on what to do and where to go? Anything from a place to eat to things to visit is helpful. Thank you!

Do you mean you plan to drive to L.A. from San Diego, as a day-trip? I wouldn't suggest it, unless you enjoy sitting in the car.

You could consider going to L.A. and staying a night, or two.

How many free nights do you have?

There's plenty to do in and around San Diego. It just depends on how many days and nights you have.

My favorite things in downtown Los Angeles area are:
Olvera Street
Chinatown
Walk of the Stars
Hollywood sign
Old Farmers Market/The Grove
Griffith Park
La Brea Tar Pits

There are good train options to consider.
Amtrak route is quite scenic in places between LA and San Diego
You end your trip at Union Station, a hub for subways to take you to many interesting places.

Yes, the Surfliner is scenic. But even the train takes 3 hours each way -- so not a terribly practical day trip - especially when factoring in the time it would take to get to the station in SD and from Union Station to wherever and back again.
