what to do in Denver for 1 day?
I will be attending a wedding in Denver this summer and will have 1 or 1-1/2 days on my own. I'll be staying in the Singleton Center area (Quebec Street) and will be without a car. Any suggestions by foot or public transportation will be appreciated. Thanks!

Go downtown to LoDo and walk around, then over to the 16th St. mall. You could taxi to Cherry Creek for a day of shopping. The Art Museum and Botanical Gardens are lovely. There is a good bit of public transportation that I can't lead you through, but taxis are not a bad way to go for the city proper either.

I'll bet the OP means Stapleton. Bus route #20 goes from that area to downtown. Check www.rtd-denver.com and click System Maps or Schedules to get more information. Once downtown, you can go to the Art Museum (new wing of modern art is worth seeing), go to LoDo for bars/restaurants, visit the State Capitol and climb to the top of the dome for a great view, for instance.

I took it to mean Stapleton area. A good friend of mine whose grands live in Denver and visits often decided one visit to just take taxis everywhere with the little girls. It was quite the adventure, cute, and not terribly expensive. I realize this is a different situation, but especially for a day or so, you can do a lot of stuff like that. Just cab to the general area and walk. LoDo and Cherry Creek lend themselves to that.

There's also a new shopping complex, called Northfield, which is a mile or so north of Stapleton, on Quebec. Lots of stores, some restaurants, and a huge theater complex.
In Stapleton, 39th Street has some cute restaurants, too.

Thanks again. Those are some excellent suggestions. I'll take the Botanical Gardens over baseball. I live in Oakland and have my choice of two bb teams (which I rarely go to). In fact, the Botanical Garden could take the better part of the full day.
To LotsaPasta - sounds like you're a bb fan. If you're ever in San Fran and like the Giants, there are "backstage" tours of AT&T Park and they let you go out onto the field. Check the Giants' website for more details, if you're interested.
