What to do In Cape Cod
My husband and I plan to leave a week from today to fly to Boston, rent a car and drive to Cape Cod. I called for reservations in Falmouth(Holiday Inn) the 1st night there and in Provincetown the 2nd.(Best Western Tides). Did I pick the proper lodging and what else show we do? I do plan to take the ferry at Falmouth to Martha's Vinyayard. Thanks

Depemds on what you like to do. Orleans is between falmouth and provincetown---lots of shops, restaurants, etc. People really like Chatham. The ferry to the Vineyard is worth the trip. The beaches are beautiful. Moby Dick's is a fun seafood (casual) restaurant on the way to Provincetown (in Truro on Route 6)Get there early. The lines are long.

Hi, We sail our boat to Marthas Vineyard often. There are three towns, Oaks Bluff, Main Street with lots of shops where you can get cheap souveniers. Edgartown, that is upper scale, lots of shops but more expensive souveniers. Vineyard Haven that is a dry town, much quieter and many shops of all kinds. Dont forget to go to the black dog, original is in Vineyard Haven. They now have a few more in the other towns. Dont know much about Falmouth, it is a pretty town though. I grew up in Hyannis, you can take a little cruise out around the Kennedy compound from the Hyannis dock on Lewis Bay. Baxters has excellent fried clams, etc. You can sit outside. Provincetwon is always fun. There you have all kind of shops and I mean all kinds. Well have fun. Wharf tavern in Edgartwon is good for a drink. Tuscany Inn is gorgeous, go in and look around. They serve dinner.

Well, you certainly have an ambitious schedule. Both motels are well-known chains with reasonable rates. The Best Western Tides is not within walking distance to the center of town but is directly on the Bay and you can take the Ptown trolley.
I think you will find plenty to see and do in both towns and you can take a leisurely drive along route 28 from Falmouth on your way to Provincetown and stop at any of the sights along the way. On your return trip from Provincetown Take route 6A in Orleans to Sandwich for another totally different scenic drive.
Driving these two routes will take you through every town on the Cape.

I've been to the Cape twice and each time I fall in love with it more. Here are some treasured moments:
1. Visiting the Sandwich Glass Museum, then going for high tea across the street from the swan pond at a lovely teahouse. This is very close to the bridge that takes you onto the cape.
2. Having a fine meal at the Brewster Inn and Chowder House. Delicious!
3. Walking the streets of Chatham and poking around in the stores.
4. Spending a day in Nantucket, a little piece of paradise.
5. Taking a Cape Cod Museum seal watch boat ride to Monomoy Island. Don't know if they have them in the summer.
6. Taking a walk on Marconi Beach at sunset.
7. Going on a whale watch cruise and seeing a whale's huge tail fin up close for the first time.
8. Visiting Plymouth and soaking in the history.
P.S. Make sure you get ferry reservations if possible! Have fun!

Make sure whatever you do, you sit on the beach and relax. That is my first priority when I go to the Cape. The Vineyard is a great trip; make sure you plan accordingly b/c the lots for the ferry fill up quick, but there is another ferry out of Falmouth Heights (Island Queen) that never seems to be as hectic.
Have a wonderful vacation.
