The snow pulled through for me. I got to use the "snow excuse" and avoid that pesky social obligation.

Instead I get to geek at home with my new DSL. It's been a day of long overdue upgrades and service pack installations. Can everyone tell how much faster my posts are reaching Fodors? :-B Speaking of Fodors they've been giving me fits with changing to my new e-mail address. I've been trying for 3 days to get my new [email protected] address to show correctly.

I've switched to beer this evening but all the talk of martinis is giving me an idea.

Statia it sounds like you're having fun with your new camera. Did your DSL come through?

ninasdream I don't usually pop out at parties. A gentleman does try to keep his pants zipped up unless in the loo.

Not that I'm always a gentleman!

My poison this evening is a ClosduBois pinot noir.
It is still 41 degrees in North Georgia, so I am having this for those of you in the blizzard.
Maybe I should switch to hot chocolate and peppermint schnapps for real sympathy!

Yes, as buckeyemom knows. And also Cask & Creme makes a similar Carmel Temptations that works just as well- as a different variation.

Grinding the beans tonight myself and making some good stuff to put it in.
Cheers!

Checking in on a balmy moonlit night with light breezes, yet warmth, from the West Indies. For those of you headed this way (per previous posts), the weather is wonderful indeed. At least better than being snowed in!

Indy, yes I'm really enjoying my new toy and we are planning to enjoy the "bigger new toy" over the weekend. Glad you got to use your "excuse." I know how that one goes.

I'm more fit for cocktail hour tonight w/o configuring, downloading and the likes, yet I still have no DSL...still on dial up, unfortunately. Hopefully that'll change come February. However, this is the Caribbean and we have learned not to expect much in the likes of timeliness. It's all on "islan' time, mon."

Enjoying my Pinot Grigio whilst doing my St. Martin trip report (for private message boards and family/friends since it was only a short jaunt) and alternating quiet time on the patio with the ocean as my view.

Cheers everyone and I'll be sure to enjoy the sunshine and swimwear for you northerners tomorrow. Stay safe and warm! Check in with us when you can.

Tonight's poison at the moment...sipping some Dow's LBV Port. Checking in to report about 8" of the white stuff out there and no sign of stopping for awhile.

Inspired by my afternoon of watching food network, I'm marinading a steak and have prepared the fixings for my own concoction, a sort of thin sliced potatos layered with cheddar & bacon which will go in the oven shortly.

Will open a bottle of red for with the dinner...maybe an old vines zinfandel.

Biggest decision tonight: "Anchorman" or "Love Rome" on DVD...

Hot Chocolate with Bailey's sounds great for dessert!

This week's poison was sake. I'm trying to learn more about this drink, so my friend bought three bottles of "daiginjo" sake--the highest grade. Then we went and binged on fabulous sushi at Sasabune.

What I'm really thinking of, though, is how to get to Rio at the end of this month so I can attend Carnivale.

Watching the snow pile up. Drinking lemon seltzer. And trying to lose that visual, Dave.

Hey Nikki would that be the visual of me popping out or Peewee Herman in Florida from the Greece thread?

I'm really looking forward to seeing you next week at the Boston GTG. I love to look at your travel pictures. You put them together so well. Makes my loose photos in Wal-Mart developing envelopes look really sad.

Younger gen joined us for dinner - '95 Vieux Telegraphe Ch du Pape and '99 Ch Belle-Vue (Haut-Medoc). The latter had lots of young Cab Franc green olive quality and needs many years.

Dave, the former. I had forgotten the latter, thanks for bringing it back.

Mimi, my pictures (the ones that aren't just in my mind, and you wouldn't want those, just ask Dave) are in albums on paper, the old fashioned way, and I'll be bringing the three albums from this year in a tote bag on Saturday.

You're welcome Nikki!

I actually spent this chilly, Sunday afternoon putting my Greece and France pictures in little plastic photo booklets.

I'll have them ready to go at the GTG if the planes are flying Friday.
