earl30, there were threads about the gettogether on both US and Europe forums. It was supposed to be last Saturday. I couldn't make it and was curious about how it went.

Yes there was a lovely get together last Sunday at a cute french resturant on 2nd Ave. We got to stop by but could not stay because of another committment, but it was great to meet everyone there, about 8 0r 9 people were there.

I also wanted to thank the organizers for putting it together and hope we can do it again in the near future, and hopefully lots more people will be able to come.

It happend, and it was quite enjoyable. The restaurant was La Mangeoire at Second and 53rd. Carol, screenname CMT, I believe, posted several times then sent an Evite to those who responded, as well as those who attended a similar luncheon organized by Elaine Levine a couple of years ago.

No one should take offense at not being "invited" as it was widely publicized on the board, and Carol went to a great deal of effort to personally contact those who might have been interested.

Nonetheless, I found it somewhat disapppointing that of the many New York area posters, only 10 were able to attend the brunch. Hope that someone else organizes another one soon.

Sorry, I can't tell you who was there because we were not using screen names, but I didn't recognize any of the prolific posters.

One woman, who worked for a cruise line had some great travel stories. At her suggestion we went around the table discussing our favorite and least favorite destination. Paris was the "winner." No real loser, but everyone seemed to have a least favorite destination.

Carol went through a lot of effort, the Evites, the follow-ups, selecting the location, making the reservation, etc. Only to get only fourteen confirmations and ten attendees.

I think that anyone who wants to initiate a get-together should select a date, a time, and a location. Who shows up, shows up. Choose a date about a month in the future and bring the posting to the top every couple of days. No date/time/location is going to be good for everybody.

OK, Sarah, all that punctuation indicates this must be important to you. Here's the list of people who responded in the affirmative on Evite.

CMT (the organizer), g_tweedy, wantsomesun, priley, Ken CT, annmail1, cc14641, baileyzimmerman, lbaldinger, Jan Halim, sonajeam, marcdavidmiller

Some of them didn't show, and others who did not respond might have. As I indicated previously, we didn't use screen names at the brunch.

thanks ken I just had asked before and no one answered. Wow I guess I don't know anyone on here anymore because I don't recognize any of those names. I ususally only answer threads on Hawaii Europe or Vermont though. Well I hope you all had a good time.
