What is Wickenburg, AZ like?

I've heard it's a cute little town about 60 miles northwest from Phoenix. Is it a retirement community or is it close enough to commute to Phoenix for work? I know 60 miles is far, but if it's all highway, it shouldn't be that bad. About how long of a drive would it be?

There isn't much in Wickenburg at all, really, except a beautiful Nature Conservancy preserve that is open to the public.

You could commute to places on the west side of Phoenix without too much trouble

Wickenburg is an easy drive once you reach the northwest edge of greater phoenix. Should be easy using the 101.

I hear they have a good mexican restaurant (Anita's) and a couple of cute shops, but you may want to take a drive through Prescott to get there. I did this with my folks a couple of years ago and it was a lot of fun. The road between Prescott and Wickenberg is a little steep, but it is a beautiful drive.

Shannon- It sounds like you are thinking about living in Wickenburg with the idea of working in PHX? I don't know how old you are, but Wickenburg is pretty retirement oriented and not much is happening there. My husband's grandfather lived in Congress, AZ for years and we've travelled that area since the mid-1980's.

I'm in my late 30's. I want to live in a nice, quiet, little town and still be able to get to everything within about 30-45 minutes. I have young children, so a retirement-type community might not be a good idea. Thanks for your help!

You might want to take a look at Anthem, North of Phoenix or Fountain Hills. These are smaller communities.
