I am not a Christian. But I am happy when my spiritual life is in order.
(That's right. Other people have happ y lives, too.) In fact, I can be quite happy when my spiritual life is not in order. In fact, I can be happy without a spiritual life.
If I don't have one, then it cannot be out of order and thus make me unhappy.

Kristen says it better than I. I keep dabbling on the internet and that definately is not a part of the equation, but its mindless and fun and questions like this one and a few others help to keep me in a positive place.

The absolute key to happiness in life is low expectations.
If anything good happens you can be pleasantly surprised.
If bad things happen, you were already planning on that, so you're not disappointed.
The few times in life I found myself really down about something are times when I can see in retrospect that I was expecting too much of the situation (or the place, event, person in question, myself, whatever...).

I agree with you, though. Unrealistic expectations are the source of much unhappiness - including one's travel expectations!
