Stretch of highway between Monterey and Big Sur; along the Outer Banks; shoreline of northern part of the Upper Peninsula, Arcata to Crescent City; coming upon the skyline of any big city (weird, I know, but I like the "energy" feeling I get).

1. Million Dollar Hwy between Ouray and Durango.
2. Hwy 12 from US 89 to Torrey, UT
3. Alaska Hwy's 1/9 from just south of Anchorage to Seward
4. Cal Hwy 1 between Oxnard and Monterey.
5. County Road (I can't remember the number) between Georgetown, Colorado and US-285 during the fall when the Aspen are turning.
6. US-89 through Logan Canyon between Logan, UT and Bear Lake, ID
7. Icefields Prkwy
8. The Yellowhead Hwy (Canada 16) between Barrett Lake & Prince Rupert, BC
9. I-70 west of Denver to Grand Junction and especially at the long sweeping curve just west of the Lookout Mtn exit.
10. The Coast Hwy from north of SFO to Astoria, OR.
In no particular order - I love 'em all

Agree on many of the above, and coupla more...
Quebec Route 132 down the St Lawrence and around to Gaspe;
The Historic Columbia Gorge Highway between Troutdale and Multnomah Falls, Oregon;
The Sea to Sky Highway (BC 99) between Vancouver and Whistler;
California SR1 between San Francisco and Mendocino;
Vermont SR 30/100 in October;
The Haines cut-off of the Alaska Highway when the eagles are about.
The last 3 miles westbound on I-90, crossing Lake Washington and through the tunnel into downtown Seattle;
The last 3 miles westbound on I-80, coming over the top deck of the Bay Bridge into San Francisco;
(Don't laugh) - coming out of the hills and down into Las Vegas on I-15 at sunset.

I gotta love your moniker richbutnot!, and I agree about Pacific Coast Hwy. nolists you are so right about coming into SF above Golden Gate; at the right time it is awesome! I guess Big_Daddy you have become sort of a resident favorite/not? here at fodors. I like your questions! I gotta say though the most spectacular drive I have ever experienced was driving a snowmobile from West Yellowstone into Yellowstone Park, middle of winter, bright sunrise, -28 degrees, several feet of snow, I had to stop several times. Words cannot express the sheer beauty of scenery. The snow-laden trees, the wildlife, the iced river, it was truly SPECTACULAR! Does being on snowmobile count?

Not in any particular order:
Along the Columbia River between OR and WA
Any of the roads leading up to Mt. Rainer
Nebraska, on Rt. 80 when the land turns from green to brown and you've felt like you entered the wild west. (atleast I did anyways)
My favorite though, would have to be a little known road between Hershey, PA to Lebanon, PA. Love all the farms and rolling hills.
