What footwear would YOU suggest?

I have already rec'd my TEVA footwear catalog. However, since I'm going to Disneyworld and have been suffering from calluses on the soles of my feet (below toes to mid-foot, not on heels..I THINK that is the sole of the foot-lol)...I need suggestions from anyone who has suffered from calluses or does, re: taking very long walks and what kind of footwear has helped YOU and that you can suggest, please. Thanks.

First, I would see a Podiatrist to determine what medical relief is available.
Perhaps you would benefit from an orthotic.
Second, although I do not have YOUR particular problem, I do have problem feet; very flat feet; very week ankles. Three brands of shoes have worked the best for me:

1. Clarkes
2. SAS
3. Easy Spirit

Good luck and do see a doctor; there's a lot more help for foot problems these days.

I find callouses form more rapidly from wearing shoes with thin soles or those where your feet slide when walking. I found these nifty foam pads (perfect size and shape - come in two or three sizes) you stick in your shoes (they have little prongs to keep them in place) at the shoe store. Aweseome!

Thank you all. I did see my podiatrist. First thing I did, as a matter of fact. He said the dead skin had come off and it was healing very well, but since this happened to me from LIMITED walking in tight sneakers (New Balance--which are the only ones I wear), I wanted to prevent it.
I just got back from the store. Bought an Easy Spirit (BJ, we must've had telepathy). However, when I walk, no matter WHAT size...the sling back (partial open toe) moves up and down a little and I fear that will cause friction in THAT area, then I'll have more problems. I'm returning them tomorrow and will just have to keep searching. My trip is Christmas week, I don't want to be breaking anything in that late, of course.

thank you all so very much. Bottoms of my feet ARE healed, but they still burn and hurt and on the edge by toes, am also getting some dryness that hurts. Sneakers have really messed me up.. I've been wearing them since 1989 every day due to an imbalance problem.

I have such problem feet too. I can really understand what you are going through! I recently started to wear Birkenstock's. It will take a week or so to break them in but once you do you will NEVER want to wear anything else. They are especially nice if you have wide feet. Good luck!

I should have been more explicit in exactly what I wear stylewise:

Sandals by Clarke's (English shoe)

Lace Up Closed Shoe (SAS)

Athletic Shoe (Easy Spirit - very light weight)

Foot problems are often caused by wearing the wrong size -- too tight, too lose.
Look in your yellow pages for a shoe store catering to people with foot problems (diabetes, etc.). I found shopping at one to be of benefit also; they were very helpful.
Good Luck!

Best, best, best sandals are Eccos, esp. the velcro 3-strap style. They are available most places that Clarks are and are also in the most recent LL Bean catalogue. (No, I don't work for them, just keep them solvent with my orders.)

Okay, thanks to everyone!!!!!!!!!
I tried on the eccos, but they had the three strappers and the top strap lands right on my toes, that all have corns on them.

They had a two strapper, but none in my size.

Couldn't locate Rockport anywhere.

Birckenstock...bought two..one with three straps and one with two. What I don't understand is that the lady who sold them to me first said that it's important your heel lands "here" and toe lands "there," but when I also chose the two strap sandals, 1/4- 1/2 size bigger, and my heels and toe didn't land where they were supposed to, like the 3-strapper, she all of a sudden said, "all feet are different." Well okay, if that is so, then why did she insist they must land in a certain place for one sandal, but not for the other? Was the wool pulled over my eyes here for that second purchase? Thanks

You can find Rockports at any department store or better shoe store. I did a Google search and found tons of sites on Rockports. They really are wonderful walking shoes!
