Walking through neighborhoods, markets, antiquing and museums. We try to go to concerts if possible. We usually devote one day to just walking and photographing. pI love browsing pharmacies and small markets, I like to buy fresh flowers for the hotel room.

Early morning bicycle rides across the meadow at Black Butte Ranch for coffee on the clubhouse's patio, where we critique golf swings, plan the day's events, or marvel in silence at the surroundings and our good fortune in being there.

My husband and I have a small Whinnie the Pooh that is know as The Well Traveled Pooh. We take him where ever we go and put him in pictures. I just got a picture of him in front of the Alamo. Our honeymoom album is a Where In Victoria Is Pooh? So far he's been to: Maine, Iceland, Estonia, Russia, Germany, Victoria, San Diego, and San Antonio. He'll soon be appearing in Hawaii.

Last year I began buying souviner pins from each place for him to wear on his shirt. I'm also buying a pin for my dog's service vest of all the places we've been. My husband collects shot glasses and I collect key chains.

I like to take photos of different buildings in the various places we go. I try to take them from different perspectives and angles, such as standing at the base of a skyscraper looking up. It makes you feel so small. I like to look for photos that capture the uniqueness of the building.

My Mom likes to stay in 'houses'. It gets to be a pain beacause we can't just make a quick/cheap trip but it also gives such a different feeling that I do enjoy. We stayed in a fabulous farm house in Maine, it felt so east coast-ish. Then I stayed with a friend in an apartment in New York City (several story building, I had never stayed an apartment before, let alone one with a doorman!). Going to Canada to stay in a house on the beach soon. Buying and cooking and living just like natives is fun.

I do enjoy going into grocery stores too. WHERE do New Yorkers shop, they don't have grocery stores like I am used to! What are those things - do people really eat them, well I might as well give it a try. It is just great to see the differences in something that seems like it should be basic.

We love to walk the area - each and every new area and always eat at local restaurants/pubs. We've met the nicest people doing this. It's also fun to take in a museum or more while in a new locale. Hubby is a boater so he always picks up a cap and t-shirt at each new place whereas I pick up a piece of pottery or something unusual made in that area. But then I also pick up the phone book and search to see if there's anyone in that town with my maiden name. (It's a little unusual) and I've found a couple, called them, and each time ( 3 times) found that we were related somehow.

We're like a lot of you in that we like to "actively" see the sights of a city or locale by running, walking or biking. We can easily run a 5 mile loop through a town in 45 minutes, give or take, and be surprised how much you can see in that time and decide what you might like to go back to. When not running, it's not unusual, as we did in Quebec at the end of July, to walk 10-15 miles in a day just to see as much as possible. What we like to see depends on the area...in Newport, checking out the mansions...on the beach, well, the beach, of course. My favorite thing to buy on a trip is Christmas ornaments. I have more t-shirts than I know what to do with being a runner and running races a lot. However, I always look for the Christmas shop in town and now have collected enough ornaments for an around the world Christmas tree. It's especially nostalgic when putting up the tree, bringing out the ornaments and reflecting on all those vacations past.
