What are the best cheap eats in Vegas?

My husband and I will be in Las Vegas for a few days after Xmas. We enjoy dining out, but not spending a ton of money on food. We like buffets (we tried Rio's buffet our last trip there a couple years ago and we weren't impressed at all - more quantity than quality), but what are some really good places to eat that are a great deal? I've heard that the buffet at Bellagio is great and a fantastic deal if you go for lunch, so I'd love to get some feedback on that if anyone has tried it. Thanks for your help!

The Bellagio buffet is definitely not a listing under cheap eats of Vegas, but that doesn't mean it isn't a good deal. In my opinion, it's most certainly the best buffet in town and has some of the best food of any of the restaurants. The lunch price is certainly less than the dinner price, but it's still more than some wish to pay. You need to look further for the cost; I want to say it's something like $11.95 or $14.95 for lunch. When we were there last year, price of dinner was probably $19.95; I read on another forum that dinner is now $24.95...so it may have gone up or this is not factual. Don't miss the Bellagio, whatever you do...it's a lovely place.

I was going to suggest the Rio buffet.
Oops! I'm not really a huge buffet fan,
but I do love the rio's. I don't like
Caesars buffet. No originality. I like
the Cheesecake Factory in the Forum mall, not exactly real "cheap"
Rain Forest Cafe at the MGM Grand is fun; Bellagio is overrated; love the
Buccaneer Bay Restaurant in Treasure Island - fancy though. Mirage has a
pretty good buffet, come to think of it.
Hilton buffet is awful. Nothing else
comes to mind

Ann, here's a website I just read about about.
Don't know how much detail they go into about restaurants, but it's worth a look.
BTW, if either of you like antique cars, there's a very nice collection at the Imperial Palace; I believe it's free admission, if not, it's very inexpensive.
Also at the Imperial is a 24 hour health clinic -- just something nice to know about.

If you're looking cheap, try the Fiesta buffet off the strip. The food was great as was the selection.

I also recommend Lindo Michoacan Cantina on Charleston for very authentic Mexican food, large portions and reasonably priced.

Don't miss Batista's Hole in the Wall. It's just down the street from Bally's towards Maxim's. You will get more pasta than you can eat. Soup, salad and wine are included with every meal. I was there last October and the price was about $13-15 for dinner. You should make a reservation if you don't want to wait. But there are so many things to look at hanging on the wall and from the ceiling you won't be bored even if you have to wait.
Also try the little deli in food court the lower level of New York New York. It was the best corned beef sandwich I've ever had.
Enjoy!

The buffet at Mandaley Bay is great! Good variety and prices. We were there the week it opened and everything was top notch. We also tried the Harley-Davidson restaurant. The food was just OK but looking at the different motorcycles hanging overhead was cool

Ann tell me it isn't so about the Rio's buffet, or is Josie correct that it is great. Emmeril of the food channel (besides having several fantastic restaurants)had a segment on his show about the Rio's buffet and it looked fantastic. I'm going to Vegas in Feb. and that was going to be one of my stops!

I am going to Vegas in April 2001, so I have done alot of research on where to eat, what to see, etc. I have heard you should go to Mr. Lucky's 24/7 (coffe shop in Hard Rock Hotel. Ask for the steak and shrimp special (not advetised on the menu- all word of mouth). For $5.95 you get nice sized steak, 3 or 4 big grilled shrimp, salad, veggie and potatoe. Pretty good value to me and I am sure I will be there. Hope this helps you.

I was there 2 weeks ago and we had lunch at the Golden Nugget buffet downtown. For a buffet, the food was above average, well presented, and they had a 2 for 1 coupon which made it about $5.00 pp including the tip. Do not go to Excalibur Prime Rib buffet; it was terrible. Also had lunch at Mandalay Bay downstairs and it was very good and reasonable. Have Fun.

Well I don't know about cheap but from your question I think quality is more important than quanity. Try the Paris buffet. The dinner is not cheap but the quality of food is wonderful. Dishes like Beef Bourgion (sp?) venison, duck, veal and beef done all kinds of ways. We went to the breakfast buffet here and were not impressed. Ceasars for quality brunch is our choice besides it is right next to the sports book. Have fun and enjoy!!!

I think the cheap eat places are thinning out & those that are left leave a lot to be desired. Like some of the posts, pay a little more & get better quality food. CHEAP IS CHEAP.

There are so many wonderful restaurants in LV, that you should really focus on quality, rather than price. (Although that Mr. Lucky's steak/shrimp special sounds like it's worth going out of the way for). It looks like the new theme hotels are outdoing each other in the food department! We loved the Grand Lux at the Venetian, and thought their room service was great too. We liked the little coffe/pastry shop at Bellagio. Their restaurants have a silly dress policy. We were staying there, and they wouldn't seat us for a 5:30 dinner at their italian restaurant because our teens were wearing shorts, and this was in July and 108 degrees outside! So much for

oops...
Bellagio. We look forward to Paris, the food reviews so far sound stupendous. But we are leaning to doing the real thing next summer instead.

If you don't mind eating supper a little later, the Imperial Palace coffee shop serves a prime rib sandwich for $2.95 after 1100pm. They call it a sandwich, but it is actually a huge piece of prime rib and it is served with au jus an french fries. It is some of the best prime rib I have ever eaten.
