Whale Watching around LA

The last week of March my family will be visiting LA. Can you still see whales? Where is the best coast location in the LA area? Suggestions for Whale-watching cruises in that area. Thanks

If you're going to be in the Orange County area, there's also whale watching out of Balboa Island (near Newport Beach). Their website is: http://www.newportwhalewatching.com/map.jpg

Also there's whale watching out of LB.

Went on a whale watching tour in SB yesterday; managed to see at least 5 gray whales. Not up close but we saw water shooting out of the spouts and the tails.

Also you can catch whale watching excusrions out of Ventura.

Forgot..SB is like 2, 2.5 hours by car from LA; Ventura is about an hour away.

Ventura is not an hour from most parts of LA - maybe from the San Fernando Valley, but not downtown LA or the beach areas. And there's not 1-1/2 hours between Ventura and Santa Barbara - actually less than an hour.
