Westin times square

I need some help with our hotel pick. We have reservations at the Westin Times Square in August for a 6 night family (4) vacation. The rate we picked is their club level with included continental breakfast. Since we booked this, I checked Trip advisor for reviews and most in the last 2 months were vitriolic--bad attitude, service, not clean, noisy etc. My first pick was the Marriott Marquis but they were booked. Can anyone allay my fears about the Westin or have another recommendation? We are interested in an included breakfast if possible. We would also be interested in a cheaper place where we could then get 2 rooms. Thanks!

Breakfast in NYC can be so cheap I really think picking a hotel b/c of free breakfast is crazy. I also seem to recall that people have said the club level is not very good at the Westin so whether you decide to stay there or not, reconsider club level. As I recall (do a text search here please) the club level is on lower floor to the other floors so views aren't as good and people thought the breakfast was blah.

Have you tried the Doubletree Suites Times Square? It's the most popular family place in TS. All suites.

The Hotel QT might be a cheaper option for 2 rooms. You could also check the Salisbury on west 57 st. It has suites.

I agree about the breakfast idea. In fact right across 8th Avenue from the Westin is a great little coffee shop. Wedge yourself between all the police who eat there and have a great but simple breakfast. Beware though. A complete breakfast could set you back five or six dollars!

Thanks for the input. The QT sounds way cool and definitely a possibility for a future trip. The Salisbury looks terrific. We are going to look into it further. I always forget how easy it is to eat in New York. It has been too long!
