I get the distinct impression from all the reading and from the website for the west rim, that there is little to do there. That is primarily the reason the tribe has built the sky bridge and is charging $75 a person to walk it. They don't seem to be able to attract tourists to their area any other way as it is not the favored spot and it is so far "out of the way".

Actually, there is a lodge there, and other things to do besides the Skywalk---horseback riding, wagon rides, Hummer tours, etc.:

The "West Rim" is what the scenic stretch of canyon (from the village to Hermit's Rest, and many viewpoints along the way) at the south rim of Grand Canyon National Park has been called for over 50 years.
The Hualapai named their tourist enterprise (on their tribal lands at the west end of the Grand Canyon - outside the boundaries of the National Park) Grand Canyon West a few years ago, for maximum name recognition.
