west of yosemite lodgings
We're going to be driving over the Tioga Pass and taking our time getting through the park on hwy 120 in two weeks. Unless something opens up within the park, we need to find something on the western side. Doesn't need to be that close to the park, though, as the next morning we'll be heading home to San Francisco.
Any recommendations?

If you take hwy 140 you can stay in El Portal or Mariposa. El Portal is pretty close to the Arch Rock entrance to the park and Mariposa is maybe 30 minutes further away.
I prefer the 140 route to 120. 140 runs along the river and is really relaxing and the drive into the valley is shorter. 120 has some great views, but it is very steep with some shear drop offs - not nearly as relaxing.

Just got back from Yosemite yesterday. Stayed at Best Western Yosemite Gateway Inn at Oakhurst, Ca. Excellent, great indoor & outdoor pools. They give you $2.50 coupon off each breakfast next door, 10% off dinner, and the food is great. If you go to Yosemite Village be sure to take the open air tram.
