Wequassett Inn or Ocean Edge hotels?
Visiting in August (2 adults/2 teens) - I noticed that Wequassett had good reviews here but wondered how it compares to Ocean Edge in Brewster. Never been to Cape before - Any preference for ocean or bay side on the Cape? Thanks

I've never seen the Wequassett so I can't comment. Ocean edge has many different properties. I have seen the ones that are directly on the bay. They are very nice. The property is also very nice--pretty, clean, etc. There is a walking path right to the beach. The bay beaches on the cape are nice but not spectacular. There tends to be a lot of seaweed, rocks, etc. The poools at the property I saw were very nice. It looks like a fun place to stay. (Not quiet, though)

We have stayed at Ocean Edge a few times off season and enjoyed it yet during the summer it can be very busy. It is a very large, nice, well kept resort that is very popular with families. They have wonderful golf, tennis and swimming pools. One of the best features that we love is that they are directly on the Cape Cod Rail to Rail Bike Path which is great if your family is into bike riding. They have several restauarants that are very good and they do a weekly clambake and Sunday brunch in the Mansion. The above poster was right that one section of the resort is on the bay yet 3 other sections of Ocean Edge are across the street and approx. a mile from the Mansion(it is a large property). They do have shuttles that run constantly that will bring you anywhere in the resort you would like to go. There are many condo's at Ocean Edge that are privately owned and that owners rent out for the week. In comparision the Wequasett is more of a New Enlgand resort with many amentities- it is not as large as Ocean Edge and as far as I know does not have condo's. It is in a pretty area on Pleasant Bay- I believe it is technically in Harwich yet right on the Chatham line. I know that Ocean Edge has a website and I am guessing that Wequassett does also. We happen to prefer the Ocean side for beaches but I think it just depends on what beach you come across that you enjoy the most- wherever you stay try to visit other beaches nearby such as Nauset Beach on the CC National Seashore-your kids will love it! Hope this helps let me know if you need more info!

You know, their both very nice places with many amenities. I prefer Wequasset because of it's setting. The buildings are nestled in the woods and you follow shaded paths to the water and dining areas. The main buildings of Ocean Edge are on open land with very few trees.
Wequasset is situated on Pleasant bay in a very picturesque setting and is protected from the rough ocean waves by the Nauset strip.
