Weekend in San Diego

Hi,

Does anyone know of any nice bed and breakfast-type of places in San Diego? I am trying to plan a romantic get-away for a weekend and really do not know the area well. Ideally, I would like to be within walking distance to a nice, uncrowded beach, with restaurants nearby.

You may want to look into areas along the northern coast (Oceanside, Carlsbad, Encinitas). It's a scenic area, still close to San Diego, that I would think would have more bed-and-breakfast-type accomodations available.

Alisa-Located very near Old Town in San Diego is the Victorian B&B Heritage Park Inn-we thoroughly enjoyed our stay there a few years ago. The daily gormet breakfasts served were out of this world. Check them out at www.heritageparkinn.com - unfortunately, they're not located within walking distance to a beach. ENJOY !!

Thank you for the replies. Does anyone have any restaurant suggestions?

Alisa,

I like La Jolla a lot more than old town San Diego. The walk-way along the beach near the Cove is very nice. If you get a chance to go to La Jolla, then you must have dinner at George's. Go to the upstair restaurant, not the downstair one. The view of the shore line around sunset time is just spectacular! Enjoy the chocolate tart!

I second the upstairs (outside) restaurant part of Georges at the Cove. Much more casual and less expensive. And you get a great view. If you can find a B&B in La Jolla or Del Mar, you might find that more romantic than the Old Town area. Try searching for B&B websites in that area.

How about the Valencia Hotel in La Jolla and dinner at George's at the Cove? That sounds romantic to me. The uncrowded beach is really tough, however.
