Some suggestions that may please both children:
Nashville Zoo (not a major zoo; but very enjoyable)
Cumberland Museum (mainly for children)
Train and Toy Museum
A visit to the Parthenon at Centennial Park for "running off steam"
Riverfront Park (downtown and near the stadium).

Maybe Centennial Park north of the State Capitol. The 3 year old can run while the 10 year old will find some of the history of Tennessee wall interesting.
Across the street from Centennial Park is a farmer's market. Both kids might enjoy seeing all the food and produce in the stalls.

You must go to the main branch of the public library system- it's absolutley amazing. There are usually story hours and activity for kids. The Frist art museum might be another choice if you can get your kids there. Stay in Westr End near Vanderbilt- close tro downtown and pretty safe.
