Wedding in Florida - Can anyone suggest a GREAT place to get married?
Hello. I am looking to plan a wedding in Florida for the end of this year. Can anyone suggest places to get married and who you used to help organize the wedding. I don't want anything too elaborate - the Ritz is out. Please let me know if you have any suggestions. Thanks.

Hi Diane! My husband and I were married on the beach, with our feet in the sand, less than 2 years ago. We stayed at the Marriott in Delray Beach, directly across the street from our ceremony. It was a small wedding, as we eloped, but I am sure the Marriott can arrange a more elaborate function. Prior to the ceremony, we had cocktails in the Marriott's pretty lounge with our friends (all 6 of them!)and the justice of the peace. Shortly before sunset, we strolled across the street, took off our shoes and had an absolutely incredible wedding ceremony as the sunset, with the waves splashing and all. We brought champagne and glasses with us to toast after the ceremony. It was perfect! Also, the Marriott is a perfect location to all the shopping and restaurants on Atlantic Ave., all within walking distance. We did not use our car once. I hope this info is helpfeul. It may not be the best place for you, but we were married before and so we wanted something very different. Whatever you decide, congratulations!

Diane,
Someone posted a similar question a while ago and got some good suggestions. You might try a search and see if you can find it.
Selby Gardens in Sarasota is a beautiful spot for a wedding. It's on the water and has several beautiful choices for a backdrop. They also have a wedding coordinator on staff. You can check it out at www.selby.org. There is wedding information under their EVENTS heading.

If you're interested in getting married in Miami, an absolutely beautiful place is Vizcaya. It's a Venetian-themed mansion on Biscayne Bay. I've attended a wedding there and it's truly a classy affair. The only catch is, I hear that you have to book very early.
