Weather report for Maui

Reposting because I didn't put in Hawaii as a topic.

Maybe those who have been to Maui can reassure me --- but I've looked at the 10-day forecast on the Weather Channel, and it calls for rain nearly every day of the first week of our honeymoon! Is rain in Maui like rain in the Caribbean - will it pass after an hour or two, or will it rain most of the day?

I think you'll find it rains in different parts of the island, and they pass. When we were there, the forecast called for passing showers every day but we only saw a shower one early evening.

It's paradise and the rain won't ruin your plans ... remember, when it rains, the waterfalls flow.

Enjoy.

This time of year it rarely rains on the leeward (west and south shores) side of the island, but it rains regularly on the windward side (north and east shores). Weather Channel will give forecasts for the entire island, which is decieving because we have so many microclimates.

Went to Maui mid May 2002 and caught the tail end of a storm system on the first day, deluge is too mild a word to describe it ! Usually tho' any rain is more of a mist falling for a few minutes, quite pleasant.

Hi mar_76. I just returned from a week in Maui and we only had a light misting one night. Not even enough to call it rain really, just mist. We stayed in West Maui and spent most of our time between West and South. I wouldn't worry too much about the weather. I was surprised how dry the leeward areas were this time of year. It honestly reminded me of Southern California. Also, don't be alarmed when you get off the plane. You will see tons of clouds, but assuming you're staying on West or South Maui the clouds will break once you head to the beach.

Enjoy your time, it will fly by. I'll be posting my trip report soon. You may find some useful info in it.
