We need advice on a Dude Ranch!!

We are looking for a Dude Ranch in Arizona (maybe, we were just thinking that the weather would still be nice). We are a party of 6 (3 kids 6,8,10, mom, dad and me, the nanny.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Also, we have potential reservations at "Los Caballeros". Anyone have any experience there?
Thanks!

I highly recommend Flying E
Ranch which, like Los Caballeros, is just outside Wickenburg. Flying E is a very casual, relaxing, family-friendly place. I am going for the 2nd time after Thanksgiving; there is a 20% discount the first 20 days of December. They have lots of repeat business, so might be full for Thanksgiving. I don't ride horses, but love the atmosphere, the cooking, the heated pool...everything! This time our son and daughter-in-law, who are western fans, will be joining us. I've recommended it to friends (avid horse people) who will be returning in March for another visit. I drove by the other dude ranches in Wickenburg for comparison. As you probably know, Los Caballeros is on a golf course. They have a dress code for dinner. It didn't appeal to me, but might be considered more upscale The Kay El Bar is smaller and looked very authentic. The price is higher because it includes horeback riding. At Flying E the basic cost is less, with extra charge for riding if desired. The general area is nice. There's an excellent western museum in town, and a couple of places you can go that are old historic mines. I posted some pictures of Flying E on Tripadviser after my last visit. More info at: www.flyingeranch.com.

It would depend on where you are looking to visit. There is a great guest ranch in southern arizona, Rancho de la Osa, http://www.ranchodelaosa.com/. There is also White Stallion Ranch, http://www.wsranch.com/, which is on Tucson's western edge. Tanque Verde Guest ranch, http://www.tanqueverderanch.com/, on Tucson's eastside gives you an upscale dude ranch experience, which is close in enough to enjoy some shopping, as well. Grapevine Canyon Ranch, http://www.wsranch.com/, is set within the Dragoon Mountains east of Tucson. Elkhorn Ranch, http://www.guestranches.com/elkhorn/, is just north of the Mexico border in the Buenos Aires preservation area. If you want to ride the same area as Cochise and Geronimo, then Price Canyon Ranch, http://www.pricecanyon.com/, would be an excellent fit. Price Canyon is a working ranch, as well as offering vacations, so it is a unique experience.

I have yet to stay at the ranches near Wickenburg.

You have picked a good time to visit, as the weather is excellent, usually, and the guest ranches have just begun their season. I hope you have a great trip!

Adios,

Bit Devine

Check out Eugene Kilgore's Ranch Vacations, or his web site ranchweb.com. We have stayed in and visited several of the ranches he reviewed, and always found his comments to be very accurate.

I would highly recommend the Flying E Ranch in Wickenburg, AZ. Casual family atmosphere with riding, swimming, hiking, golfing. Good food served in a sit down family setting. Secure feeling with Very Freiendly STAFF! Two Thumbs up. Los Caballeros is a Higher end establishment with structure, I've been to both and always go back to the Flying E Ranch
