Washington DC -- photo tips

Posted before and was referred to an earlier report that I searched for and could not find. I will be in Washington next week and am hoping to get some tips on where to go for getting good shots. (Where and time of day, since I don't know east or west relative to various sites.) Have a tripod and can do panos. Would REALLY appreciate any help that can save me time, since I will only have about two days to shoot.

Got good advice on hotels, but need good advice on this, too.

Thanks.

Jeanne

Hey Jeanne -- I just topped Dan Woodlief's thread for you -- there may be another one too -- plus he now has a website with his DC photos but I can't remember the address.

Lisa, This is proving to be a very humbling experience for me. I thought I was web savvy. However, I sure cannot search my way around Fodor's. I don't know what you mean when you say you just topped Dan's thread for me. What do I have to do to find it? (I think my problem is that I've never used newsgroups before.)

Steps of the Lincoln Memorial--you can get the Reflecting Pool, the Washington Monument, and the Capitol Building all in one shot (and the moon, if you shoot at night). Also, go across to Arlington Cemetery. Near JFK's flame (I think) is a hill where you can see across the monuments.

Jeanne: It just means I brought another thread to the top for you. Scan the titles of the other threads near this one here in the U.S. forum -- it is called something like "Hotels in Washington DC -- special needs and soon"

Hi Jeanne. I finally found Dan Woodlief's website (hope it's not too late) -- you might want to check it out because he has a travelogue on his trip to DC and photo tips:
