I am going to be in Washington DC in June with my daughter ,14 years old, and some of her friends. They enjoy eating in Chinatown in NYC and wanted to go to Washington DC Chinatown.What are some good restaurants suggestions?

Eat First - H & 6th or 7th - is pretty good.

Chinatown is not really the place to get Chinese food in DC. While the neighborhood has transformed for the better, it is now "Chinatown" in name only. You can, however, find a Hooters and a Starbucks.

It's true it's not a real Chinatown but it is a hopping area of town and the arch is something to see at least once. You'll be very close to the Portrait Gallery which is wonderful. Our favorite restaurant in China Town is Full Key.

Just a little bit of added history here, good food, but not the best I've ever had. The building is actually Mary Surratt’s old boarding house.

Mary Surratt was a member of the Abraham Lincoln assassination conspiracy and the first woman executed by the United States federal government, for her role in the conspiracy. She was executed by hanging. She was the mother of John Surratt, also alleged to be involved in the conspiracy. This boarding house was the site of meetings between her son and the other Lincoln conspirators, including John Wilkes Booth.

If you’re just interested in a good Chinese dinner there might be a better spot. When DD, 13 and I visited D.C. last spring we choose to eat here in “the old boarding house”, and then we went to Ford’s Theatre to see a play. It was a fantastic night and the best stage show I’ve ever seen.

Although it is not considered "fine dining", Tony Chiang's Mongolian Grill is a lot of fun and the food is good, if not gourmet. Your daughter and friends can pick their won food items, four meats and a dozen vegetables, to be cooked on a big kettle grill before their eyes. The prices are quite reasonable.

H Street, about 7th Street NW. Close by the basketball arena, Gallery Place? metro stop and that silly Chinese dragon decoration Deng Xaio-Ping gave Marion Barry aboout twenty years ago. Two blocks from the Red Roof Inn.

Here is a newspaper article about DC Chinatown that you will enjoy (talks about the restaurants too). If you have never had Mongolian BBQ - be sure to try it. It's really not a BBQ, but a stir-fry with the ingredients that you choose. They used to have one in Ft. Worth that we loved for over 25 years, but no more.
