Washington Cherry Blossoms???

Can any of you Fodorites living in D.C. tell me if the cherry blossoms are still blooming for this weekend? We have a business trip but want to stay the weekend if the city is beautiful. We've never seen them. Thanks.

My mother who lives in DC was visiting me this past weekend and mentioned that the blossoms where currently in bloom. As long as the weather is mild and it doesn't rain they should still be viewable this upcoming weekend. Enjoy.

I was in DC this past weekend and the trees were gorgeous, despite two fairly windy days. The weather was supposed to be warmer this week so the blossoms might last - definitely worth seeing!

Help! My internet weather says rain today in D.C. as well as tonight. I have to extend reservations if we're going to stay! Should I take the chance? Driving so no planes to worry about, but hotel must be booked. Been to D.C. many times, just never seen the cherry blossoms! What to do?

The cherry trees that bloom initially have peaked, but are still plentiful on the trees. It's raining here now and a bit windy, so we'll lose some of the blossoms.

However, there are other cherry trees that come out soon - the Kwasan (sp?) cherrys (pink)--very beautiful. Also, all of the azaleas start in soon and there are tulips everywhere. I think you would still feel your trip was worthwhile.

Thanks everyone. Other than the Tidal Basin, does anyone have another suggestion for seeing the cherry blossoms? We're staying at the Marriot Key Bridge.

The forecast for this weekend is sunny and in the 60's. While the trees have peaked they are still full of blossoms and beautiful. You MUST come down to the Tidal Basin however. You won't regret it. I've lived in the DC area for 30 years and never went there at cherry blossom time because of the crowds--last year we decided to brave it and go and I was totally blown away by the beauty.
