Warwick Hotel or Waldorf Astoria?

Going to NY for the first time with my 11 year old. Fodor's gives the Warwick a star. Although the Waldorf Astoria is only $20 more per night. which is better?

treebw,

Waldorf is far more "grand" than the Warwick - however I like the Warwick's location better.

Never stayed at the Waldorf, so can't compare rooms - Warwick's rooms are like those of say a Marriott/Hilton/Sheraton. What's more important to you, staying in a grand hotel or a superb location?

Hope this helps,
Andre

treebw,
Sorry I can't give a comparison, but my sister and I stayed at the Warwick last October and loved the location and accomodations.

My 13yr old grand-daughtrer and I stayed at the Warwickd last July.We both loved the location, service was great and room was nice. (stayed at Waldorf 2 yrs ago and our room was a bit "worn'--but adequate. The location was not as convenient as the Warwick--close to R. Center, Central Park. 5th Ave.Times SQ.. I would stay there again. ALSO about 2 blocks toward Central Park is a great deli. with EVERYTHING you would need for snack, regular grocery store food, and coffee and meat-sandwich counter...It was a life-saver when we were too tired to
go out for lunch or dinner
Hope you have as good of a times as we did....

I've stayed at the Waldorf several times on business and I vote for the Warwick! Yes, the Waldorf has some very nice rooms, but I've learned they also have many not-nice rooms, and the desk clerks are not friendly about moving you when you ask.

The Warwick has been totally renovated a few years back -- I would Opt for that one....

Treebw-
Just stayed at the Warwick this past weekend. Our room was pretty big (a double) for NYC standards, service was great, and location can't be beat. I've had friends stay at the Waldorf and I think it's hit or miss with the quality of room you get. I would definitely recommend the Warwick!
