Warning to Nashville Hertz customers
The Hertz rental counter at Nashville Airport put me and my daughter into a crappy Chevy with bald tires. I knew the car was lousy, but I didn't expect it to be unsafe, and did not discover the tires, which had the whitewalls showing through on the bottom of the right front tire, until I had driven 500 miles.
Beware.
Beware.

Obviously they have no business doing this. And I can't imagine how it happened - since rental agencies typically only keep a car 18 months or so.
What we do every time we rent a car is a full check of everything - like a flight check on a plane - to ensure that all lights, blinkers, wipers and everything else works - as well as a full look at the body (I've twice had Avis try to give ma car with significant body damage - and refused to take it until it was photoed and the clerk signed for the damage on the rental form.

After a scene that resembled a cross between "Green Acres" and "Andy Griffith", we swapped the car out.
No, Pukey, I was not on my cell phone, I simply expected the company to put me into a safe car.
As I said, beware.

That is something that must be checked after every use. Bald tires are not safe at all and they should have done an 18 point check before turning over the car. These days it's all about the mighty dollar and no regard to human life at all.
I bet I will not be using them.
