"warm" getaway no passports
My husband and I are looking to get away the first week of April (prime season I know) for about 4 nights to a warm destination. We've considered Mexico, Caribbean, etc, but we don't have passports and really don't want to deal with the hassle of all of that. Can anyone suggest a romantic destination where we can purely lounge and hang out without a lot of hussle and bussle? Our budget is about $2000 from Chicago. This will most likely be our last vacation before children!!!!!

Sorry to break it to you, but have you checked airfares? That could use up over half your budget.
US Virgin Islands [St. John in particular] is where you want to go if you don't want to use passports. Puerto Rico is another possibility.
I wish you luck and hope you can find a deal.

You didn't say there had to be beaches, so how about the Southwest? Tucson, Phoenix should be nice and warm at that time of year. A wide range of rooms and prices, it could work. Fly Southwest, they might have a package or good airfares to PHX.

Palm Desert is a good option to Palm Springs. Palm Desert has a variety of resort and condo rentals to choose from in the area. It's also in close proximity to the Palm Springs airport. If you enjoy golf, tennis or hiking, there are plenty of choices in the area. There are also multiple Indian casinos that are popular with the tourists. The area has a wide variety of restaurant choices.

I second the idea of going to someplace like Sedona, AZ; my sister lives in Tucson & she & her husband love Apr/May for a trip to Sedona and/or the Grand Canyon. I've also been looking into Vieques for an upcoming trip.
Also,if you applied for expedited passports now, wouldn't you have them by your travel dates? If so, I would also consider Bermuda which my sister really liked.

I think Sedona is a nice suggestion. What about Death Valley. We just returned from there about 3 weeks ago. There is a ton to do and it is a unique park. They do have swimming pools that are heated by thermal water. They don't even use chlorine in them. They are constantly being replenished with fresh water.
