WALT DISNEY WORLD SPENDING MONEY?

How much should I budget a day for food and refreshments for 2 people? I plan to eat Breakfast in our room (We have a full kitchen). We plan on eating lunch in the parks and split time between eating in our room and at the parks for dinner. I will be in Disney from Sunday through Thursday (5 Full Days). Other than souvenirs, could there be any other expenses?

Short answer is: A Bunch!

Eating lunch varies from the most inexpensive sandwiches, fries, drink at about $8.00 pp. to sit down affairs that run from $20-50 per couple. Dinner is more.

Other expenses: Bottles of water as you wander about, ice cream, snacks, etc. Plan to bring film from home or pay dearly for it in and near the parks. Pay for parking if you are not staying on property. Might have to buy rain poncho or umbrella.

That's what I can think of for now. I am sure I am missing something, money just seems to find it's way out of your pocket whilst in and around WDW.

WDW is designed to extract your money. The food is expensive for what you get, and choices can be pretty limited. Take a look at "The Unofficial Guide" and at the restaurant opinions website for WDW (sorry, I no longer have the link.) Make notes on two or three places for each park, where value and selection are highly rated, so you don't stop at the nearest hamburger stand. Some places have generous portions (and you can't safely tote a doggie bag through summer heat) so you could split an entree if you aren't big eaters. Figure $15 per person for lunch and and $35 for dinner.

Visiting nearby hotels can be a fun alternative, such as the Contemporary at Magic Kingdom. You avoid some of the crowds this way, especially at lunch.

T-MAN.....Each park has at least one fruit stand. Its fresh and plentiful. We at the counters, those restaurants offereing counter service.Order alacarte.Portions are large and if there is a side dish listed that you dont care for, tell your waitron. They'll not add it and then reduce the cost of the meal.Have Fun!

check out wdwig.com - it has postings of all the restaurants menus with prices- including the snack bar type places. It helped me enormously when I planned trips to WDW.

Don't be afraid to share meals there. They tend to give you large portions -too much food usually, especially in hot weather. Often in a sitdown restaurant if you tell them you are sharing an entree they will bring it out on separate plates.

I agree with BeachBoi. I live in Florida only about an hour from Orlando. A la carte is the best way to go. Otherwise you will be paying $8 for burgers and a coke. Another good quick lunch is the 'turkey legs' they sell at stands in all the parks. They are huge and taste like ham. Plenty to keep you going through the day. It may also be worth it for you to pack ice cold bottled water in a back pack through the park then pay for it there. They run about $3 each in the park.
A good place for dinner is the Hard Rock Cafe. Good food and fun and not a bad price.
