Wailea - GW for romance?

My husband and i are looking for as romantic a trip as possible, we have been married 6 yrs and are very very much in love (lucky us
we have decided on Wailea (or if we chose Kaanapali - the Hyatt Regency)
but we have a deluxe ocean view room booked at the Grand Wailea,
the four seasons is sold out for our dates in Sept.

The GW looks beautiful, we want a great beach great food and romance, places to go to escape....
our only concern with the GW is that the pools are so popular the reosrt may be too "busy" with lots of kids ...etc....

would another hotel be a better choice? again the 4 seasons is sold out...

the Ritz Carlton in Kapalua has club level rooms available, but can you walk to any town from there???

please help. is the Grand Waile the right choice???

thank you!

I haven't been up to the ritz carlton, but you really can't walk to any town from the GW. You really don't need to - there is tons to do there. and you can walk to the some of the other hotels also. there is a mall with some resturants that is close also. There were alot of kids in the pool when I was last there but the pool is so huge. I think there might have been an adult section?? - but I am not sure.

the beaches on the waliea side are Fantastic!! - some of the best in the world.

If you want to see other parts of the island from GW I Would recommend renting a car

enjoy

One of the downsides to the GW is that it's quite Las Vegas-y for Hawaii, and attracts TONS of kids because of the pool system. The resort was definitely worn around the edges last I visited, but is still a very nice place. It's just not the place I'd choose for an adults only romantic trip. That would be the Four Seasons right next door.
We always stay at the FS and inevitably wander through the GW once or twice.
But if you've never been to Hawaii, and if you're like 90% of people, you'll have a great time regardless.

Well, the Hotel Hana-Maui has been called the Most romantic resort in the world, with the most romantic spa on one of the most romantic beaches in and I can find no reason to disagree. Although, in all fairness, I have not visited all of the other hotels in the world. You ask about Hana in another thread. Go to Hana, stay at the Hotel Hana-Maui, swim in waterfalls, have a romantic time. Also, in September the HH-M has a no children policy. http://www.hotelhanamaui.com/

lasjas,

the hana side of the island is great, but realizew it is a 3-4 hour dirve to get there (and 3-4 hr drive to get anywhere from there) it is very isolated. If you really like the hana hotel - think about splitting you vacation (half in hana, half at GW or similar)

Also The Fairmont Kei Lani is a FANTASTIC hotel -comparable to the Four Seasons right next to the four seasons. There will be much less kids at the kei lani
