Wailea Beach Marriott or Renaissance Wailea?

Which one....only a couple of miles apart and maybe $50 difference in same room category.

If we decide to use points Marriott takes 5,000 more points per night than Ransaissance.

Neither get absolute raves on trip advisor.

Thanks for any guidance.

When are you going? I think the Renaissance is scheduled to close by mid-June.

I stayed at the Wailea last April. It was undergoing many renovations. Not sure if they are complete? Beautiful room though, loved the pool and view from the pool and we loved the location. We would go back!

Alooooha!

Instinct tells me to go with Marriott as it was most recently built?!? Curious how much upkeep has been done since Renaissance decided to sell/close its doors.

Either way, always check with frontdesk regarding any construction in area or pool renovations.

But that's completely uneducated guessing on my part.
Topping for someone with first hand advice.

Ciao Bella

sistah, you and pila keep me so confused. I never know if I'm in Hawaii or Italy!

Anyway, I need 2 nights somewhere on Maui. Doesn't have to be a Marriott. How about something near Lahaina so we can play in the streets!!

Why not try the Sheraton at Kaanapali? I think you can get it on Hotwire for a reasonable $270 or so. Just a thought.

Why not try the Maui Prince?

Are you committed to a particular locale?

Did you get my message about the Kaanapali Beach Hotel?

How bout pricelining the Sheraton or the Westin? You da queen of da p-line, you could do it.

Lots of cute little places up Napili Way too.

I saw the availability calendar for HoolioHowse on the site. You should try calling them. Sometimes those calendars are not updated, etc...

Doesn't necessarily have to be in a certain locale, but since we only need 2 nights I just thought Lahaina would be fun and funky.

I hesitate to bid certain areas on priceline because lots of people are getting the Renaissance and I'm just not sure I want to pay even $160 for a mediocre room.

We'll see.........you and sistah helped me find the wonderful cottage in Hana so we will continue to browse browse browse.

Another quickie......I have decided we should definitely eat at Mama's. Check it out when you go in 30 more days and do a taste test for me please!!!!

How about it? Anyone have opinions as to which is the best? Marriott or Renaissance?
