Please recommend a hotel on the ocean that has a balcony and small kitchen.
Thank you.

CD - I live here in Virginia Beach and I can't recommend one personally that has a kitchen.

I did go into expedia.com and had them pull up Virginia Beach hotels and went into a few. A couple listed "Kitchenettes". I then went into tripadvisor.com and the couple of hotels that I saw on expedia didn't have the best reviews.

This is an option for you to try if you don't get more responses here.

LHG - You're right the Hilton is a nice hotel on the ocean with a balcony, but I don't think they have kitchens?

I just saw a friend's brochure the other day, and I'm sure there is a kitchen at the Hilton--maybe you would have to book a suite. Just call the hotel and ask.

Thanks LHG and Chasechow
I tried the Marriot as they have a balcony and kitchenettes but I have waited too long for the Labor Day weekend. They are all booked.
Chasechow, can you recommend anything on the ocean close to the boardwalk that I can check out? I've been looking at VRBO also.

chasechow...I used to live in Va Beach was married there. That was eons ago so this might be useless info! I lived around 50th St and Atlantic Ave and my parents stayed in a motel type place quite near there when I was married, balconies, kitchenettes and on the ocean. Would you have any idea if it's still there and if it might be decent for cd? It was nice then, and away from the busier downtown, more a residential area.

Since I'm from here and when guests come to visit, they stay at our house, I can't recommend any particular place based on personal experience.

It might take me a day or two, but I can ask around and see if I can get some feedback from some other locals.

Thanks Chasechow, I appreciate that. And OO if you remember the name of that motel, will check it out. It sounds like just what we want. We would like to spend the weekend just walking the beach, looking at the sunsets, buying fresh seafood, preparing it and having dinner on our balcony.

I have found a couple of sites that might be of help to you

Here's one of them:

Evidently this is the right address. You will have to cut and paste the entire thing in your address bar rather than just clicking on the link.

Here is one more. I went into the website va-beach-hotels.com and put in the criteria that you are looking for.

It didn't allow me to specify balconies, but I did request efficiencies actually at the beach area. It came up with the following listing and from there you can access their individual websites to see if they have balconies and if they are located directly on the oceanfront.

http://va-beach-hotels.com/property_list.php?s_amenity[]=4&s_location[]=2&s_location[]=3&s_location[]=5

Residence Inn at the north end of Atlantic Ave - we stayed there in June and were very pleased with the property and staff. We had a separate bedroom, living room with balcony overlooking the beach and a small kitchen complete with stove and fridge.

I was going to suggest the Residence Inn, but it looks like it is booked solid for the labor day weekend.

Trying to find something nice that meets your requirements might be a little tough with Labor Day a month away. Good luck.

Thanks one and all. I could not find anything in VB or OC that sounded good so I went south to the Outer Banks but thanks for your help!
