Villas by the Sea, Jekyll Island?

Looking for feedback on this property. My husband and I are interested in a quiet spot (in the general area) with an ocean view for a few relaxing days. We'd also like a private balcony.

Thanks!

I have driven by this place and it looks nice. I would recommend going to tripadvisor.com and see if there were any reviews on this place.

I have stayed once at Villas by the Sea. The suites are lovely and they are right on the ocean. One of the hurricanes that came through about five years back messed up the beach in front of the property, so now there is not a strand of sand that you can walk but rather a wall of rocks. Beautiful, but I think it did hurt the beach experience. We stayed at the Buccaneer a couple of times. It's more like a hotel than a condo (like Villas by the Sea), but it sits close to the ocean. Listening to the tide roll is beautifully relaxing.

Thanks for the info.

I called the Buccaneer also. Unfortunately they said their policy does not allow them to guaranetee a 2nd floor balcony vs 1st floor patio room, which may be an issue. I'm guessing it's a first come/first serve sort of situation.

The Beachview club also looks interesting and has gotten some good reviews.

I usually stay at the Oceanside Inn and Suites (now sharing the Buccaneer website). Not fancy, but right on the best part of the beach. You should be able to request an upper level room (actually efficiencies with kitchen) - which has its own balcony. Simple accomodations, but it's my favorite place on Jekyll.

Are all of the efficiencies at the Oceanside on the upper level? When I called about reservations they said the would note my request, but not guarantee an upper level room.

Thanks.

No. The efficiencies are top and bottom. The ones on the second floor have a private balcony. The ones on the ground floor have a little patio that opens on to the grassy lawn. I think there's a partial wall for some privacy.

The far end of the hotel has units that don't run front to back. Those have oceanside hotel room-like units with microwave and small fridge. The few rooms on the back side of the end are the only ones without an ocean view (faces parking lot).
