Viewing Wallops launches
Going camping at Assateague State Park (MD) in May 2014. Baring unforeseen circumstances, there is supposed to be a launch at Wallops Island (near Chincoteague, VA) during the time we are camping at the state park. My question is to locals/launch veterans: where is the best place to view and experience the launch? Wallops Flight Facility visitor's center (1 hour away from the campground) or somewhere else or just stay put at the campground and go out on the beach to see? I really want to experience the whole thing....the sound, the feeling, not just the visual part of the launch. (Space dork!)
Thanks very much for any info.

Your timing is impeccable. Today's Washington Post travel section has a big article on Wallops Island including suggestions about the best places to watch the launches in the immediate area:

Additionally, NASA has a great app that will allow you to listen to the launch as well as watch it. Don't know how good cell reception is in the area though.
