Viator Tours - has anyone used them?

I'm in the process of planning my 4 week trip to the US in August visiting 6 cities. When looking into day tours I have come across a company called Viator. I hadn't heard of them before.

Has anyone used them? They seem to offer many tours that are at the same time and schedule as companies such as Grayline and I was wondering whether Viator is just a tour reseller rather than an operator. Are they reliable?

I know a lot of you probably don't take tours and I probably won't take many either, just checking out what's available compared to my own plans.

Never heard of them, but have taken Grayline day tours in quite a few cities. Never had problem with availability - just booked when I got to the city. They have a website of same name so you can check out what each tour does. And I have always found discount coupons in local paper or hotel lobby when I get there.

You're correct that Viator is a reseller, not an operator. I have a friend who swears by them when he travels to the UK. He doesn't like to shop around so he likes to use them to do all the planning for him.

However, I think it's a pre-pay type deal. I seem to recall him telling me he booked/paid for a tour from London to Edinburgh that he couldn't take because he fell ill. I got the impression he wasn't able to get a refund.

I've booked several tours w/ Viator in Europe with good results.

As kmg21 says, they are a reseller.

What I liked about them though is the quantity of information I was able to find in advance of my trip. Sometimes schedules are tight and it helps to have many details arranged prior to arrival.
