Vegas trip

Fri: My husband and I celebrated my b-day this past weekend. Great time. When I walked into our room at the Westin Casuarina there was a balloon bouquet. What a great surprise! We booked a package through Southwest. Hotel was all non-smoking expect for the casino. Nice size room and bath. Bed was so soft. Shower had 2 heads and was great. Samller hotel and was quiet. Carpet was old and a new one is needed. Hotel is off the strip on Flamingo. Not to far of a walk to Flamingo Hotel.

Had tasty Indain at a new place India Oven. It's on Paradise Blvd a few blocks off the strip. A bit far to walk. Took a cab. The resturant is new and more modern. Fancy. You get rice and bread with your meal. Not like the traditional Indain where it comes a la carte. Good service.

Walked the strip and checked out the hotels and shops. If you collect animal theme stuff there is a fun place in Tropicana called: Bow Wow's N Meow's.

Sat: Worked out at the gym at Westin. Ok. A few cardio and weight machines and free wts. Only one hot tub and pool outside. Hot tub was nice but there were too many kids.

Lunch: La Salsa. Mexican and good. Food not greasy and no lard is used. All veggie oil. A few locations. Went to the one in Alladin. Good service.

Got half price tickets for Second City. Ticket place is by Hawaiian Marketplace.

I like to walk but the heat was getting to me. I had on sandals and my feet were not only hurting but burning. I wore my fitness shoes the rest of the trip.

Dinner: PF Changs. Good. Second City was funny. Saw the show before (different cast).

Sunday: Got tickets for Tony/Tia's wedding. This was a different ticket place by the showcase mall which is not much to see. All M/M and Coke stuff. This ticket place was bit higher. Service fee more.

Lunch: India Palace on Twain St. Off the strip. Very good buffet and fast service.

Show at the Rio: Tony/Tia's wedding was the best! Worth the money. Great cast. So funny! You are part of a wedding and interact with all the actors. Singing, dancing. Food not good. I should have eaten before. Pasta cold and no flavor. Show was one of the best I have seen in a long time.

My husband & I gambled some and broke even. It was a great trip. Next time we plan on staying 2 nights instead of 3.

If you have any questions you can e-mail.

For you information, India Oven has been around for many years, but relocated last year from W. Sahara to its present location. In the same shopping center is El Coqui which serves very good Puerto Rican fare including delicious coconut flan. India Palace is my favorite Indian restaurant in Las Vegas.

Question about Tony and Tina's Wedding.

We saw the show over Labor Day weekend and absolutely HATED it! I thought there could have been a lot of potential, but it was such a low-budget production. Where did you sit during the performance? Our seats were right in front of the head table. I'm wondering if the seating makes the difference.

Nice report! Silly question....did the hotel greet you with the balloon bouquet because they knew it was your birthday? Or do they do special things for all guests? And may I ask what the rate was?
