Vegas: Mirage vs. Treasure Island

Been reading posts re: TI & pool. Posts indicate the TI pool is rather small for the size of the hotel. I've also read that the pool at the Mirage is much nicer, bigger, etc. My question is, do you people out there think the Mirage pool area is worth an extra $50.00 a night? We will be in Vegas in beginning of July, for just 2 nights. Definitely plan on going to Wet n Wild for a day.
I just don't know if I should spring for the Mirage or stay with TI (made reservations for $108.00 night, incl. kids w/AAA discount).
I would love to hear from anyone who has stayed at the Mirage and/or TI. Thanks!!

Can you stay at TI and use the Mirage pool? They are both MGM properties and I believe are right next to each other. I haven't been there so can't speak from experience but I am planning a few days in March.

another thing to keep in mind...the pool may be (and i don't know) small for a full hotel but i highly doubt it will be full in july. but, get a good pool cause it will be so hot you'll need it.

m: If you stay at TI, you are only allowed to use the TI pool. I asked and was told we would not be allowed to go to the Mirage pool area.
So, you think July 1-3 will not be crowded in Vegas? Gonna be too darn hot?? (I can't wait for some of that southwestern warmth!)

Was in Vegas a couple years ago 4th of July. Was sooooo hot the air conditioner in our car was hot by the time it reached the back of the car. And the strip was VERY crowded, lots of traffic. It was faster to walk, and not as hot if you were sitting in the back of that stupid car.

How serious are you about the pool? The TI pool is plain Jane...small, not bad, just average. But that hotel is fun for kids because of the Pirate theme.

The Mirage pool has two water slides, ample waterfalls, and is near the Dolphin and Tiger habitat. Its pool is so popular, that people go early to get a good seat. They start lining up 1/2 hour before it opens.

If you're going to Wet n Wild, then you might not pay the extra for Mirage. But if you want that second day to be spent all day at the pool, then consider Mirage. If the second day won't be so pool intensive - do TI for sure.

Hope this helps!

Yes - July will be HOT!!!!

And no - you can't stay at TI and use the Mirage pool. At the Mirage, they make everyone present a room key and then they insert it into the key reader to make sure you are still checked in to the hotel.

We stayed at TI a couple of years ago and were very pleased with the room and rates. However, it was sooo hot that even with the overhead outdoor spritzers it was unpleasant to be outside. I remember going over to the Mirage to check out the tiger exibit and looking longingly at that Mirage pool. If I remember correctly, there was a great-looking bar adjacent to the pool, and for some reason, things looked shady over there. Anyway, it was so appealing that I was ready to jump over the fence. The TI pool was pretty puny by comparison. However, since you're going to spend a whole day at a water park, I guess you have to think about what you plan to do that other day. It's no problem to find fun things to do at night.

Thanks everybody for letting me use you all as a sounding board.
I think with going to Wet n Wild for a day, I'll just stay w/TI. The place does look great, and maybe I'll get a room with a pirate ship view. If it's as hot as everybody says, we won't last long just lounging by a pool anyway.
Thanks again!

Just and FYI:

I'd bet (pun intended) that www.billhere.com could get u some discounts to "Wet N Wild" for a small fee. I don't know how readily available these discounts are.

Another FYI:
I stayed at the Mirage in July of 2000 and the pool was so crowded that you had to stake out a lounge chair by 10:30 AM or risk not getting one at all.
Vegas used to empty out during summer.
Not so true any more.
