Make sure you make reservaions early in Zion National Park. There is a large motel or cabins available at the park. We did not stay there, but we checked on the prices and they were reasonable for that area(around $80-90). The grounds are immaculate. The motels outside the south end of the Grand Canyon are a little more than that. There are a lot of large shade trees to sit under and admire the beauty. From my understanding, you need to make all reservation very early from anywhere in the Canyon area. If you travel around the Canyon, and pass through painted desert, the Indians have several roadside areas set up selling jewelry and pottery. They are a lot cheaper than at the gift shops. Hope you enjoy your vacation.

We are doing the same iteniary only this December. I got everything I needed in this forum and on the web. Just go into EXCITE search engine, type in travel to Grand Canyon and travel to Las Vegas and up comes a wealth of info. I printed out pictures, got a list of trails, hikes, rafting, the Imax theatre, and even found my hotel. If you have any problems E mail me direct. Good luck.

Jeff: You can get from Vegas to Zion in a day; try the Harvest House B&B in Springdale, UT. Great views/food. Geography in Utah is incredible: changes every 50 miles. Found a good restaurant in Kanab, UT, called 50's Style: great chicken-fried steak! North Rim of Grand Canyon is less congested than South.
