Vanderbilt Inn, Naples, Florida
Please comment on this property. It is about 1.3 miles north of the Ritz Carlton. I was told the rooms were renovated three years ago. I've checked out the website and it looks pretty good. Just to clear up any confusion, I'm not referring to the Vanderbilt Beach Resort that is about 1/4 mile from the Ritz.

Tammy, I don't know the property but in regard renovations, depending on their occupancy, 3 years can mean not that it's recent, but that it's almost time for another! We had one completed 4 years ago and boards are being put together for the next one, to be started this winter.

Tammy,
I am from Naples and am trying to figure out exactly which Vanderbilt you are speaking of... Are you refering to to hotel next to Wiggins Bay? If so Please email me and I can tell you about this area of Naples ... in fact, my (now Husband) proposed to me on this stretch of beach

The Vanderbilt Inn's address is 11000 Gulf Shore Dr. North. It's very close to the intersection of County Highway 846. I'm not referring to the Vanderbilt Beach Motel at 9225 Gulf Shore Dr. North close to Vanderbilt Beach Road. I do not know where Wiggin's Bay is.

Laura,
I have copied the email here. The Vanderbilt Inn's address is 11000 Gulf Shore Dr. North. It's right next to the intersection of 111th Ave.(Bluebill Ave.) I'm not referring to the Vanderbilt Beach Motel at 9225 Gulf Shore Dr. North, close to Vanderbilt Beach Road.
I found a map with Wiggins Pass State Park on it. It looks like the Vanderbilt Inn is very close to this park and bay. I'm not really interested in the area this hotel is in as much as the condition of the property. What type of people stay there? Are the grounds nice? Thank you.

This is a very nice beach, it is also a place where young people "hang out"... I don't mean loud radios and beer but it just a meeting place to lay on the beach that I know I used to go to in high school. Families stay there too...It depends on teh time of the yearyou go, school is back in session so during the day it won't be crowded. They have a nice pool area with a resturant and bar...They have nighttime emtertainmentthere but I am not sure if it is nightly or just on Weekends. There used to be a great band called the Coconuts which was great.. sort of a Beach Boys/Reggae band. I have never stayed there so I cannot comment on the rooms. This hotel is on a long stretch of beach that also has the Ritz (about 1/2 mile down) and It is a nice beach to walk. Let me know what you think or what else I can add

I stayed there in the summer of 1996. It was a decent motel, the rooms opening to the outside, not to an interior corridor. There were lots of families with young children. It seemed like a typical Holiday Inn type of lodging. There were free h'ordeuvs (sp?) in the bar on Saturday night and a band played around the pool. There was a volley ball net on the beach.
