Vacation with no driving!

I'd like to find a nice hotel on a beach and within walking distance of shops, resturants etc. Any ideas?

Go to South Beach?

For hotel recommendations, let us know your budget.

Try the Delano if you can afford it.

Come to Chicago, seriously. The beaches are beautiful, with the lake on one side and the skyline on the other. And there are tons of hotels, shops and restaurants within walking distance. You can probably find a great hotel deal on hotwire. If you can come in August, I can almost guarantee it'll be just as hot and humid as Florida, and the lake will be warm enough for swimming.

Try a cruise! I and my wife just got back from our first cruise and we loved it. I havent come back from a vacation so relaxed in a long time. Usually we do these marathon vacations where we get out and do everything we possibly can but on a cruise....THEY do the work...you have the fun!

What comes to mind first is our last trip to Naples, Florida. We stayed at LaPlaya, which was so beautiful, you did not want to leave. When you want to leave, LaPlaya is on the Trolly stop. You hop on the trolly and it will take you downtown where all the shopping is - and everyhwere in between. We rented a car when we were there only because we were driving to another destination. If you stay at LaPlaya without a car it will save you $20.00 per day, which is the parking fee. With the trolly, you don't need a car and it's a nice way to see this beautiful oasis of florida.

It's nice to not need a car.
