If you only have 4 free full days to see sights while out west on business,would that be enough time to travel from Salt Lake City , see a few sights in Salt lake, stop at Bryce Canyon and end in Las Vegas for business meetings? It looks like 8 hours or more of driving from Salt Lake with stops to Las Vegas .
Or ,would it make better use of time to fly into Grand Junction, Colorado and stay in Moab and see Arches National park and then fly out of Grand Junction to Las Vegas for business meeting that I need to attend.
I am trying to decide if all the driving is worth the trip to Bryce and Moab is a better choice. I have been to Zion National Park on another trip. Travel time period would be August.

I would fly to Grand Junction, rent a car and drive to Moab for two days and than drive to Bryce for a day and on to Vegas. But DH likes to drive and the scenery on that route is spectacular.

Yes, 4 days is plenty of time to do that. Drive via Torrey (about 4 hrs), stay the night and visit Capitol Reef. Next day drive to Bryce along Hwy 12 (an All American Scenic byway and well worth the detour), stay two nights. Last day drive to LV via Zion. Even if you've been there before it is basically on your way and second visits provide different perspectives. You wouldn't even need to go in the main canyon if you didn't want.

4 full days in Moab would be great. A full day for Arches, a full day for Canyonlands Island in the sky and Dead Horse Point. Another day to explore the river corridor up to Fisher Towers (though that would be easy to do either coming or leaving to Grand Junction) or along the Potash road to Corona Arch. Take a sunset hummer trip, or raft the river. August will most likely be very hot, so daytime activities should be curtailed or appropriate for the temps (like rafting or driving in an air condtioned car).

Either one would be great. No pros or cons that make one better than the other except maybe car rental. Can you get a rental that wouldn't charge more for dropping off in a different city (slc-LV?)

I would go to Bryce because it wouldn't be so ungodly hot in August!

I have decided to eliminate Moab from this trip and concentrate on seeing Bryce. Also , thinking that I could shorten trip to 3 full days. And, I had another thought of flying to St. George, Utah, rent a car and return the car in LasVegas.
Possibly spend a night in Springdale, since that is about 1 hour from St. George and 2 hours from Bryce Canyon park.
Is one or a half day enough to see the highlights of Bryce Canyon?
Depending on weather conditions will determine how much we actually do , like hiking.
Any recommendations regarding visiting Bryce Canyon?
Any sugguestions regarding lodging in what towns near Bryce Canyon?

Drive to Bryce, spend the night. Spend the day looking at/hiking into Bryce. Spend another night there. Drive to Springdale (Zion. Spend the afternoon touring the canyon floor by shuttle. Spend the night in Springdale. Next day hike up to Angels Landing via Lower Emerald Pool. Spend the night in Springdale. Drive to Vegas the next day.

Why only do 3 days if you can do 4. Fly into St George if you can and spend night in Springdale. Drive out the incredibly scenic east entrance of Zion toward Bryce. Do the Canyon Overlook hike just on the other side of the tunnel entrance - short but great hike; lots of fun. Bryce is only 1.5 hrs to Bryce. Spend a day and 1/2 exploring Bryce - do the Navajo Queens Garden hike. If you can get in park lodging, take it. If not, stay outside the park at Bryce Canyon Pines. Good onsite dining, far less crowded, quieter. Nice accommodations.

It would be even better if you could fly into SLC, drive scenic Route 12 from Capitol Reef or Boulder, Utah (as suggested by Insandy)to Bryce. Spend 2 nights. Then head to Springdale for a night before heading to St George to fly home. Then you don't do any backtracking. Don't underestimate how much you'll enjoy seeing Zion again - we have been going to southern Utah every fall for the past 3 yrs and never tire of seeing any of it. All of the parks are truly special.

Thanks for the suggestions. Unfortunately part of my business schedule is causing me to change travel plans. I now need to fly in and out of Las Vegas . Would like to spend two nights in Bryce but hotels are completely booked on a weekend.
Thinking of trying to spend two nights - Friday and Saturday in Springdale, Utah and then Sunday travel to Bryce and spend Sunday evening in Bryce. Monday see more of Bryce and in mid afternoon travel back to Las Vegas.
Besides Zion National Park entrance in Springdale what else would be worth the drive near Springdale , since I am using that town as a home base for two nights. I have been through Zion . Looking into to Zion's Kolob Canyon or Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park or driving site that is near Springdale .
Once in Bryce is that Shuttle that tours the rim a good half day activity? Next Half day to do a trail down into Bryce? I will only have two half days to see Bryce.
